Recent years have seen both Google and IBM demonstrating quantum processors using superconducting quantum bits (qubits). Readout, routing and information exchange between the 50+ individual processors is mediated by microwave photons travelling along voltage lines.
Our customer at Royal Holloway University of London are investigating superconducting quantum systems, and one of their research directions involves designing and fabricating qubits that probe the single-photon regimes of quantum electrodynamics and to establish protocols for the generation and detection of such single photons.
